In 2012, Callwood left Little Bushman to join The Phoenix Foundation and was replaced by Caleb Robinson (bass, backing vocals).

Prior to Little Bushman, Maxwell also played in Skapa, Southside of Bombay, and Fat Freddy's Drop. Joe Callwood has performed with The Claire Christie Band. Cranson has played with Breathe and The Jeff Henderson Trio. Robinson has performed with Iva Lamkum and produced her self-titled EP and debut album Black Eagle. 

Little Bushman recorded Onus of Sand in 2005, following it up with Pendulum (2007), Live with the NZSO (2009) and Te Oranga (2010), all released on their own independent record label.

As well as opening for Donovan Frankenreiter, Blue King Brown and the John Butler Trio, they toured with both Don McGlashan and Dave Dobbyn, and performed extensively on the local festival circuit, appearing at The Parihaka Peace Festival, Rippon, Bluesfest NZ and Womad. In Australia they have performed at The Byron Bay Blues Festival, The Island Vibe Festival and The WC Blues & Roots Festival. They've also regularly headlined their own solo tours in both countries.

Maxwell owns and runs Stonefeather Studios, a recording space in Featherston near Wellington.

In 2006 Warren was one of five inaugural recipients of an Arts Foundation New Generation Award.

In 2008, Little Bushman collaborated with composer John Psathas and the Auckland Philiharmonia to present the concert Little Bushman meet the APO at Auckland Town Hall. In 2009 the concert was presented again, this time with the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra and recorded for their Live in Concert With The NZSO album.

In 2010 Little Bushman donated $5,000 towards Gareth and Jo Morgan's water well project in Tanzania.

In 2012 Little Bushman licensed their song 'Where I Got Born' to Speight's Beer for use in an advertising campaign. Maxwell occasionally composes soundtrack pieces for film and television and divides his time between his various musical projects.
