The Hasselhoff Experiment

Garage punk had been simmering away just below the surface in New Zealand for much of the 1990s. Around the country, bands like the Hi-Tone Destroyers in Christchurch and Nothing At All! in Auckland were steadily gaining momentum.

But it was Wellington’s The Hasselhoff Experiment who really kicked out the jams, catching the crest of garage’s latest wave when, after a mere six months together, they fired their opening salvo with the self-release of their 1998 eponymous debut.
