Gabriel Calcott

aka DJ Messenjah on Dubwize

In the early 2000s, Gabriel Calcott – aka DJ Messenjah – spent most of his weekends behind the turntables in Dubwize, the Christchurch-based dub, reggae and ragga sound system he shared with MCs Little Jah, David Papa Levi, and later on Iya Fari and Raggadon.

When they weren’t gigging, he could often be found working on music in his home studio with Paul Bimler, the multi-instrumentalist, producer and DJ then better known as Confucius, or deepening his Rastafarian faith.
