Miho Wada

Armed with a flute and more positive energy than you would think possible, Miho Wada is one performer that’s hard to forget. Also known as “the flute ninja,” the New Zealand-Japanese instrumentalist/singer has a colourful and diverse career, spanning classical, jazz, punk, Cuban folk music, JPop, and other influences.

Miho Wada was born in Hino City, Tokyo in 1979. Growing up in Miyazaki, Japan, she showed signs of musical talent from a very early age. “As soon as I could talk and walk, I would just hold slippers,” she says. “I would have a slipper in my hand and just sing about [how] Mum’s doing something, or a cat walking down the street.”
