8 Foot Sativa

Blasting out of West Auckland in the late 90s, 8 Foot Sativa blended thrash and death with some old-school heavy metal attitude, and became the most successful and widely known New Zealand metal band to that point, both locally and overseas.

In the 1980s, heavy metal mutated out of its Iron Maiden/Judas Priest phase and thrash metal took over. New sub-genres grew out of thrash, and with the arrival of death metal the genre evolved into a darkly complex and dystopian modern music.
