Jason Sad

aka Trevor Smith

“Are you man enough for Jason Sad – then go all the way” was the slogan on the poster that came with Jason Sad’s 1982 EP release, Lilac Dan & the Underworld versus the Golden Desperadoes of Apathea – in which he also appointed himself leader of “The Jason Sad Rock Commandos”.

This barely veiled threat of power and dominance, along with more than a hint of gay innuendo, was one that summed Jason Sad up completely. He was a larger than life character: forceful, persuasive, demanding, a believer of his own rhetoric, and a complete devotee to his own personal interpretation of the rock and roll dream. As a creative mind he was an enviable talent. As a developer of ideas he was exceptional, and as a persuader he was totally convincing.
