dDub

aka DW Browne, Derek W Browne, Derek Browne, D W Browne Band, Marmite Blister

Derek Browne was the lead singer and founder of dDub, a band which toured New Zealand extensively for 15 years and played over 56 gigs in one year alone. They put out two successful albums, selling over 10,000 copies and performed to audiences ranging from 150 to 25,000 people at festivals such as Womad and Rhythm and Vines.

His early recordings were made in the mid-1990s at a Whanganui furniture warehouse that doubled as a rehearsal space. Augmented with solo recordings made at Palmerston North’s The Stomach they were released on the 1996 cassette album D W Browne. The following year, the CD Enter Me featured a selection of solo performances of original songs.
