Jackie Clarke

One of New Zealand’s most recognisable performers, Jackie Clarke is an artist with the talent, personality, and chutzpah to carry off any appearance on stage, in front of a camera or in the studio. Whether in any of her self-described roles as “entertainer, singer, performer, amuser,” at the heart of it all is her soaring voice; the tonsils tell the whole story.

Her resumé reads like a performer’s ultimate wish list. She’s in the top echelon of entertainers in the country and has been in touring bands, harmony vocal groups, one-woman shows, musicals, straight theatre, and comedies. She has an acting role in TV3’s Happiness, has sung at Australasian arts festivals and small-town gigs, and performed with a string quartet, the NZSO and regional orchestras with the country’s best. She is a long-time session singer for jingles, backing vocals and voice overs; has presented TV documentaries and judged onscreen talent shows, and she adapted her usual vocal style to sing opera with Mercury Theatre’s all-Polynesian cast of Gershwin’s Porgy and Bess.
