Amiria Grenell

aka Mea

In January 2012, the Christchurch-based singer/songwriter Amiria Grenell was appearing at a big summer festival in Matakana, north of Auckland, on the same day that her first album under her own name was a finalist in the New Zealand Music Awards’ best folk album category being presented at the Auckland Folk Festival.

Amiria had to arrange a driver to take her the 90-minute trip from the Tuborg Summer Sunday site to the Kumeu Showgrounds, where her album Three Feathers was announced the winner, and then back to Matakana in time to perform as part of Fly My Pretties.
