Stanley Manthyng and World Gone Wild

Stanley Manthyng had a run of hits at the turn of the 1990s, both as part of the duo World Gone Wild with Michael Caulfield, and as a songwriter for rap group Double J and Twice the T. A tremendous live performer, his gigs with Cactus, Beautiful, and Stan & the Love Gang delivered funky music with a wicked sense of fun.

Stanley spent his childhood in Nelson, where he was inspired to make music by the new wave and pop artists of the time – Blondie, Pat Benatar, The Motels, and Billy Idol. He came out as gay at age 14 and was buoyed by seeing gender-bending acts appearing on television throughout his childhood.
