Who would have thought there could be so much written about the bands and music associated with Flying Nun Records. From 1981 to the present, lots of talented people have been making wonderful music which was then thrown out into the world on 7” singles, 12” EPs, albums, CDs and back to vinyl again despite the now current domination of things digital.
This collection of articles about Flying Nun is a bunch of fine writing by sharp and informed writers who have sunk their teeth into the fleshy bands of the past and adorned their bones with related photos and videos.
These easily digested stories of the artists and their exploits build an overall picture of Flying Nun Records’ often dysfunctional history.
The quality of the music certainly stands up today and the stories illuminate the personalities who made it and the often anarchic and inspired way it was created. And there is plenty more of this to come that will, no doubt, be added to this AudioCulture Flying Nun Collection.
